Birthers: White House Political Hoax Du Jour?

First it was the Roorbacks and now the Birthers, is the US political system always rife with political hoaxes?

By: Ringo Bones

Though the “Birther” movement has since been silenced when US President Barack Obama managed to take out the 9/11 terror attack mastermind named Osama Bin Laden back in May 1 , 2011. Strangely, a few days before the success of Operation Geronimo, billionaire-bully Donald Trump had been badgering President Obama to produce his own long-form birth certificate after growing pressure from the Birther Movement alleging that president Obama was born in Kenya as opposed to the state of Hawaii. Given their on again and off again mercurial popularity, are Birthers nothing more than a political hoax?

Since the country was founded by George Washington, the US political system is no stranger to political hoaxes, from the Roorbacks attempts of discrediting a presidential candidate through deliberate falsehood to the “whispering campaigns” that culminated in the Mulligan Letters. The Birthers may just be the 21st Century’s version of the Roorbacks out to discredit President Obama by any means necessary, but sadly, their cherished “beliefs” are seem so outmoded in comparison to late 20th Century political correctness. Names change, but do political hoaxes remain the same in the US political system?
